The 'RoHS Certificate' provides information regarding the absence of certain substances in Thales Enterprise Storage Security Appliances. The products identified are in compliance with the European Union Directive 2002/95/EC ('RoHS Directive') concerning the use of certain hazardous substances.
RoHS Compliance Statement
An overview of the nCipher hardware product range and it's applicability to the Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS) Directive. The RoHs Directive came into force in Europe on 1 July 2006. Revised in June 2008 to incorporate the Grand Chamber of the European Court ruling on the annulment of the exemption on the use of DecaBDE, a flame retardant compound.
DecaBDE RoHS Customer
On 1 April 2008 the Grand Chamber of the European Court annulled the existing exemption to the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directive. The annulment now prohibits the use of a flame retardant compound (called DecaBDE) from 1 July 2008. DecaBDE is used in the potting compound in nCipher's FIPS certified HSMs and SSL accelerators. As a direct result of the annulment these products will not comply with the revised ROHS Directive from 1st July 2008. nCipher are therefore changing the potting compound to ensure we meet the revised RoHS directive by this date.
