TrustMe™ and WatchWord™ 3

Frequently Asked Questions

1. FAQ
Problem/ Question: I bought a batch of the new WatchWord 3 tokens to use with my TrustMe Server installation but I can't get it to program them. Do you have an upgrade or work-around I can use?
Resolution/ Answer: The new WatchWord 3 Token supports new features and identifies itself to the TrustMe as it is being loaded as different to the WatchWord II. This allows the new features to be used in systems where they are supported. There are two alternatives depending on how you currently load the secret key into the tokens.
  • If you load the key electronically using the interface device (RG560) you will need to download and install a replacement DLL file for TrustMe to use. See "How to update the DLL file" below.
  • If you load the key manually, through the keypad, you do not need take any action as the new WatchWord 3 token is 100% backward compatible and may be loaded in exactly the same way as the older WatchWord II tokens.

2. FAQ
Problem/ Question: How do I update the DLL file?
Resolution/ Answer:

1. Download the new file by right clicking on the following link and selecting "Save Target As". The DLL is in a self extracting ZIP Archive TMWWII07Feb00.ZIP (104KB)
Extract the file TMWWII.DLL from the ZIP archive into a temporary folder (e.g. C:WindowsTemp) in preparation for installing.

2. Close or exit the TrustMe application on the target machine.

3. The new DLL file carries the same filename as the old one. First, on the target machine, find and rename the old file "TMWWII.DLL.OLD" so that you can go back to it if the "copy" operation fails in some way.

4. Copy the new file into the same folder as the original.

5. Restart TrustMe. TrustMe will automatically find the new file and use it. You should now be able to program the new WatchWord 3 tokens as if they were WatchWord II tokens.
