This example is based on configuring
a Windows Millennium PC with a SafeDial+ in a PCMCIA slot attached
to a Thales modem. These instructions assume that you have already
installed the SafeDial+ 32 bit client.
Attach the Thales modem to the SafeDial+ and insert the SafeDial+
into the PCMCIA slot. You should here an audible acknowledgement
that the card has been inserted.
Run the SafeDial+ client from the start menu or from the installation
directory (default is C:\WINDOWS\sdwatch.exe).
After a few seconds you will see this screen:

Enter your password and hit OK.
The padlock icon on the task bar should turn green indicating a
successful login. The icon has 4 states:
 |
Red = not logged
on |
 |
Green = logged on in secure
mode (the default setting)
|
 |
Green/Blue = logged on in
Auto Secure/Clear mode |
 |
Blue = logged on in Clear
mode.
|
The operating mode (secure/clear etc.) defines how the SafeDial+
will try and connect with the remote SafeDial+. You can change the
operating mode etc. by double clicking on the padlock icon. This
brings up the following screen:

Close the SafeDial+ client. To create a dial up connection go to Start, Programs, Accessories, Communications, Dial Up Networking.
Click on the New Connection icon.
Give the entry an appropriate name and make sure the SafeDial+ is
selected in the device section:
 Click
Next.
Enter the area code and phone number as shown:

Click Next.

Click Finish. You will now have a new icon in the Dial Up Networking
folder. Right click on the icon and select properties. Uncheck the
box which says Use area code and Dialling Properties (as shown in
the diagram below).

Click on OK and then double click on the entry. Fill in your username
and password (these credentials are for RAS and are nothing to do
with your SafeDial+ password). Click on the Connect button to initiate
the connection.
