SafeDial+

Configuring Windows 2000 Remote Access Server

Pages 1 / 2

You are now presented with the list of modems installed. Highlight the SafeDial+ and click properties:

Click on the Diagnostics tab and tick the box Record a log (this is very useful when diagnosing problems).

Click on the Advanced tab and enter the initialisation string:

The initialisation string logs the SafeDial+ on, sets the date and sets the encryption mode. The example here logs on with the password racal (at$ub<password>) and sets the date to 12:00 31 March 2003 (at$mqyymmddhhmmz) and sets the mode to encrypt (at$uc =encrypt, at$ua = clear, at$ua1 = auto). Click on OK to complete the configuration. Repeat this configuration procedure for all installed SafeDial+s.

Close the modem properties window and start RRAS by going to Start, Programs, Administrative tools, Routing and Remote Access:

Right click on Ports and select Properties:

Highlight the first SafeDial V.34 entry and click on Configure. Tick the Remote access connections (inbound only) box and then click on OK. Repeat this procedure for all installed SafeDial+s.

Click on OK to finish. Right click on the name of you server and select All tasks, Restart to restart the RRAS service.

This completes the configuration of RAS on Windows 2000 Server. The SafeDial+s are now ready to accept incoming calls.

Return to the start page...
