SafeDial+

Configuring Windows 2000 Remote Access Server

This document describes how to configure the SafeDial+ with Windows 2000 remote access server (RAS). This document assumes that you are using a SafePort rack and some sort of COM port expansion device such as the Digi Etherlite or Comtrol and that these devices are already configured. This example uses Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 3 installed. This document also assumes that you have the Routing and Remote Access service already installed.

Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Phone and Modem Options.

Click on the "modems" tab and then click on the Add button:

In the Add/remove hardware wizard tick the Don't detect my modem; I will select it from a list box. Click Next.

Click on the Have Disk button:

Select the \inf directory on the CD (or another location where the MDMSD.inf file is stored). Click on OK.

Highlight the SafeDial V.34 entry and click on Next.

This screen allows you to select the COM port on which the SafeDial+ is installed - if you have multiple SafeDial+s you can install them at the same time (e.g. in this example we have two SafeDial+s on COM4 and COM5). Click on Next to continue.

Select Yes on the digital signature screen (this will appear multiple times if you are installing multiple SafeDial+s)

Once all the SafeDial+s have been installed click on Finish to finish.
