When using UKG SafeDial+ you
will receive your key material from CESG - this will be in the form
of several disks and one envelope; the CA is on one disk, the user
key material is on the other disks and the password is contained
in the envelope. This document covers the commissioning of the SafeDial+
using the SIF program.
NB - SIF expects to communicate with the SafeDial+ as 57,600bps
- if you are using a SafePort ensure that the SafePort speed
has been set to 57,600 and not 115,200. Click here for more details.
Run sif.exe (SafeDial Issuing Facility)

Click on File and Load CA

Click Next to continue. At this point the SIF program will query
the SafeDial+ and return the name of the SafeDial+ and which
COM port it is on:

You will now be asked to insert the CA disk - this can be identified
by the serial number on the disk which is in the format xxx/6566D/x/xxx.

You will be asked to confirm that you wish to overwrite the
manufacturer CA with your new CA. Click on Finish to confirm.

You will see this confirmation if the CA install is successful.

You will then be returned to the SIF main screen, click on File and Load User Key Material.

Click Next to continue. At this point the SIF program will query
the SafeDial+ and return the name of the SafeDial+ and which
COM port it is on:

You will now be asked to insert the User Key Material disk -
this can be identified by the serial number on the disk which
is in the format xxx/6566U/x/xxx. There will be several different
disks labelled User 0, User 1, User 2 etc. A different user disk
should be used for each SafeDial+ that you commission. The drop
down box tells SIF which drive to look in for your key material
- it just looks in the root of the drive (not in any subfolders).
If you are not loading your key material directly from the supplied
floppies (for example if have copied all your key material to
a removable drive or CD) then you may be asked for the name of
the key material you wish to load. In this example we are loading
directly from the floppy disk which only contains one set of
user key material. Click Next to continue.

The loading of key material will change the name of the SafeDial+
to that of the user key material (so loading User 1 will change
the name to 1). You will see this message if a name change is
involved. Click Finish to finish.

After a few seconds you should see this message.

The commissioning of the SafeDial+ is now complete and it is
ready to be used. The commissioning process changes the password
of the SafeDial+ from the default of racal to the password supplied
with the key material. Remember to use this password when configuring
the SafeDial+ or, ideally, change the password to something different.
