LMK transfer from PROM to Smartcard

The following is the procedure to use to transfer key component data from PROM to Smart Card:

1: Format the Smart Card using the FC console command.

Note: Much of the following information is in the RG7000 Operations and Installations Manual Page 5-49.

2: Enter the PC command.

3: Insert the first PROM component in the ZIF socket on the RG7000's processor board and insert the first smart card.

4: Enter the Smart Card PIN number.

5: Model 1 LMK (24-pin PROM)? [Y/N]:

If you have a Model 1 LMK (24-pin PROM) enter Y at this prompt.

6: Generate extended LMK pairs? [Y/N]:

If you said Yes to the last prompt, (5 above), the firmware will contain only a minimum number of LMK key pairs, 00/01 up to 18/19 in very early RG6000 firmware versions, and 24/25 in later ones. Saying Yes to this will generate extended key pairs up to 38/39.

Note: Generating more key pairs will not affect existing ones, however, as the Key Check Value is generated over the entire component, and new key pairs have been added, the KCV will be different. Subsequently the KCV of the final LMK will be different, however existing key processing will not be affected.

7: Enter value C:

If new key pairs are to be generated a further 8 character value will be requested. Enter this as value C.

8: The console will report:

Writing Keys ...

Checking Keys ...

Copy complete, check: 0123 4567 89AB CDEF

Offline>

9: Once the card is generated use the VC console command (Verify Card, Pages 5-28,5-29), to check that everything is written to the card correctly.

10: Follow the same procedure for the other PROM based LMK components.
