Frequently Asked Questions
1. FAQ
Problem/ Question: Have connected the HSM to our network, however I cannot see the HSM on the network.
Product Variant: RG7100 / RG7110
Category: Ethernet connections
Resolution/ Answer: The HSM can be set to use either Ethernet interface 10base2 or 10base5. The 15-way D-type 10base5 connector on the rear of the HSM is always active. The BNC 10base2 connector is only active when the link is made on jumper JPR1 on the Ethernet circuit board. Do NOT connect on both. (The JPR1 link should not be made unless the 10base2 connection is to be used). The board is mounted vertically on the rear panel of the HSM.

10baseT using RJ45 type connectors can be achieved by the use of an AUI to 10baseT converter.

6. FAQ
Problem/ Question: How can I test a Channel HSM on an IBM Mainframe?
Product Variant:

RG7100 / RG7110 / RG7200 / RG7210 / RG7300 / RG7310 / RG7400 / RG7500 / RG7600

Resolution/ Answer: The RG7200 HSM and RG7210 High Speed HSM can be tested by running a test utility which is supplied with a set of test data. The data can be changed to fit your requirements; if you wish to do this please refer to the RG7000 Programmer's Manual for information on all the Host commands. Please note that the test assumes that the Test LMK set has been installed in the target HSM for the duration of the tests.

Please read the ReadMe file (3kbytes) covering the test utility before downloading the programs. The file contains instructions on how to configure your system and assembling/linking the programs ready for use. JCL is provided in the suite to assist in executing the program.

To download the test program suite click here hsschivp.zip (5 kbytes).
