WhatsUp Gold (hereafter
WUG) is a network monitoring tool that allows you to monitor IP network
devices using standard tools and SNMP. As such it is possible to
integrate the Datacryptor® with WUG - this document describes how to do this.
To get some more information on what WUG is see:

To obtain a 30 day evaluation copy of WUG see:

This document was written using the demo version (v.8.01) and assumes
that you have installed software and made no modifications to the basic
setup.

- Configuring SNMP in WhatsUp Gold
- It is possible to load vendor specific SNMP
MIBs into WUG. The Datacryptor® is shipped with its own
set of MIBs for the different hardware
platforms. This section explains how to load the MIBs into
WUG.
- WUG ships with a program called mibextra.exe which allows
you to add vendor specific MIBs to the WUG MIBs. It is
installed by default in the WUG installation directory (default
is
C:\Program Files\WhatsUp). The command syntax is:
- <mibextra.exe> <path to Datacryptor®.mib>
- The program should be run from the folder where mibextra.exe
is located.

If
it is successful you should see output similar to that pictured
below.

The
correct procedure for installing MIBs is to install the
Datacryptor®.mib
first
and then install the hardware specific MIB afterwards. For
example, if you had an IP Datacryptor® you would do:
- mibextra.exe Datacryptor®.mib
- mibextra.exe Datacryptor®-ip-trap.mib
It
is important to install the Datacryptor®.mib
first as the other mibs depend on its existence.
