Thales announces today the worldwide launch of its new state-of-the-art Datacryptor Gig Ethernet and Datacryptor SONET/SDH encryptors. The high-speed encryption market is growing rapidly as new regulations force governments and financial organisations to encrypt their network communications in order to protect sensitive information.
The latest additions to the Datacryptor family address the need for secure, robust WAN links that require high throughput and low latency performance characteristics and are easy to operate and maintain. Thales understands government and commercial organisations’ stringent requirements for securing sensitive network connections in a cost-effective manner.
The Datacryptor Gig Ethernet encryptor is designed for gigabit LAN/WAN deployments as well as fixed or tactical point-to-point gigabit wireless applications, enabling large organisations to address their backbone network security requirements. The Gig Ethernet encryptor avoids the overheads and complexity associated with the IPSec protocol for point-to-point applications and protects the confidentiality and integrity of critical networks with the strongest commercially-available cryptography. Ease-of-use and quick setup make the Datacryptor Gig Ethernet a natural choice for point-to-point gigabit networks, providing 2 Gbps total encrypted throughput in real-time.
The Datacryptor SONET/SDH encryptor line-up includes models supporting OC-3, OC-12, OC-48 and OC-192 circuits, ranging from 155 Mbps up to 10 Gbps. These encryptors are transparent to SONET/SDH switches and regenerators and offer customers easy scalability and central management. As deployments of SONET/SDH networks increase, the market for SONET/SDH encryption is also rapidly growing.
Girish Solanki, Frost & Sullivan IT Analyst, states, “Thales' focus on technical excellence has resulted in the development of an award-winning portfolio of secure and dependable encryption solutions. The Datacryptor Gig Ethernet fulfils critical needs and provides government and commercial customers with certified cryptography that is secure, cost-effective, easy to deploy, monitor, and maintain. Thales offers a complete range of Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 solutions.”
Andrew Ricketts, head of the communication security business line for the e-security activities of Thales in the UK , commented, “The launch of these new products emphasises Thales’ commitment to provide a comprehensive range of network encryption solutions to meet the security requirements of the most demanding users – namely governments and financial organisations. The Datacryptor series now covers a wide choice of layer 1, layer 2 and layer 3 networking technologies with speeds ranging from 2 Mbps up to 10 Gbps, making Thales the first choice encryption partner for many of the world’s largest organisations”..
About the Datacryptor range:
Thales’ Datacryptor solutions offer hardware-based FIPS 140-2 certified cryptography for point-to-multipoint encryption over layer 3 IP networks and point-to-point encryption - with virtually no latency or overhead - for layer 1 or layer 2 networks. Specifically, the product line covers a complete range of encryptors for IP, Link, Frame Relay, E1/T1, E3/T3, Gigabit Ethernet and SONET/SDH network connectivity.
All of the Datacryptor Gig Ethernet and SONET/SDH encryptors support the AES 256-bit algorithm, offer dual power supplies, fibre optic interfaces, and meet FIPS 140-2 Level 2 requirements. Coupled with a common and seamless network management application, these products are an ideal fit in the highly regarded Datacryptor product family.
